Strategic Health Group reports $3.1M surplus, defers GLP-1 policy decision

Massachusetts Strategic Health Group · Meeting of January 27, 2026

FRANKLIN — Strategic Health Group closes first half of FY26 with $3.1 million surplus. The board, chaired by Richard LaFond (Town of Webster), voted 8-0 to accept prior meeting minutes as consultant Ken Lombardi reported favorable claims data offsetting industry-wide pressures from major carriers' GLP-1 drug removals and multi-state rate hikes averaging 8.3 percent. RX Benefits' Rx Protect Program generated year-to-date savings of $947,218 at an 11.85-to-1 return on investment.

The board deferred a critical decision on establishing weight-loss GLP-1 coverage and management protocols until its February meeting, pending further input on three competing program models.
