Franklin Wins $30,000 State Grant For Hazard Mitigation Plan

FRANKLIN — Franklin will use a $30,000 state grant to update its hazard mitigation plan in partnership with the Town of Bellingham, and the town is separately seeking volunteers to fill two open seats on its Community Preservation Committee, according to Town Hall.

The $30,000 grant will fund a joint regional planning effort between Franklin and Bellingham to update both communities' Hazard Mitigation Plans, the town announced. The plans guide how the two communities prepare for and respond to natural hazards and disasters.

Separately, the Town of Franklin is seeking residents to fill two Citizen-at-Large seats on the Community Preservation Committee (CPC), which oversees spending from the town's Community Preservation Act funds on housing, open space, historic preservation, and recreation projects. The Planning Board meets Monday, August 10. The Town Council holds its regular meeting Wednesday, August 12, followed by Town Council Monthly Office Hours on Thursday, August 13. Also on August 13, the Municipal Affordable Housing Trust and the Conservation Commission each hold meetings.
