Franklin Town Council moves four zoning amendments toward final adoption

Franklin Town Council unanimously advanced six bylaw amendments toward final adoption at its April 1 meeting. Four zoning amendments (26-946, 26-947, 26-948, 26-949) designed to bring the town into compliance with the MBTA Communities Law--which requires zoning for 1,883 multifamily units--cleared first reading and moved to second reading without opposition. Two additional amendments extending sewer and water service to a five-lot subdivision on Union Street also passed first and second readings unanimously.
Town Engineer Michael Maglio reported the developer will upgrade aging water infrastructure and contribute $35,000 to future DPW improvements, with second readings scheduled for May 13.
