Franklin's Municipal Affordable Housing Trust approved prior meeting minutes and plotted its next moves as the Franklin Ridge project approaches lease-up in early 2027. Chair Christopher Vericker and four members held a roundtable on affordable housing initiatives, exploring potential use of remaining Trust funds to assist families and considering partnerships with the Community Preservation Act board and Franklin Housing Authority. Member Mark Minnichelli researched opportunities for first-time homebuyer grants and other support programs.
Trustees also discussed the impact of 40B buyouts, in which builders can exit affordable housing commitments after securing zoning relief, potentially weakening the town's Subsidized Housing Inventory. The Trust plans to develop a stakeholder list and invite community partners into upcoming planning conversations.
