Franklin Flags Interest Charges On Some Utility Bills

Franklin's finance office issued a notice this week alerting some residents to interest charges appearing on recent utility bills, an administrative matter town officials moved to clarify as the town also wrapped up its scheduled Tuesday water shut-off.

The town posted a News Flash on August 4 titled "Notice Regarding Interest Charges on Some Utility Bills Issued July 29," addressing charges some residents may have noticed on statements sent out at the end of July. The notice, posted to the town's CivicAlerts page, does not detail the scope of affected accounts, but residents with billing questions are directed to consult the full notice on franklinma.gov.

That announcement followed Monday's alert about the scheduled water shut-off carried out Tuesday, August 4, part of routine system maintenance previously flagged by the Department of Public Works.

Town Council's regular meeting calendar continues this month, with a Town Council meeting set for August 12 and Town Council Monthly Office Hours on August 13, alongside sessions of the Zoning Board of Appeals, Planning Board, Municipal Affordable Housing Trust and Conservation Commission.

The Zoning Board of Appeals meets Thursday, August 6. The Planning Board meets Monday, August 10. The Town Council holds its regular meeting Wednesday, August 12, followed by Town Council Monthly Office Hours, a Municipal Affordable Housing Trust meeting and a Conservation Commission meeting all on Thursday, August 13.
