Franklin Town Council voted to transfer $25,000 from a marketing and branding account to the town's 250th anniversary celebration committee, which projected costs near $760,000 for its 2028 festivities. Jason Joyce, representing the committee, said the money helps fund merchandise, a website and event deposits ahead of a 2028 parade and gala at Lake Pearl. Councilors also heard renewed opposition to Flock license-plate cameras: resident Eddie Emerson of Partridge Street said the devices violate "everybody's Fourth Amendment rights." SAFE Coalition CEO Jen Knight Levine marked the nonprofit's tenth year serving Franklin, reporting 2,991 client visits and warning that "no one is going to protect our children but us." The Franklin Food Pantry reported a 35 percent jump in child food insecurity and distributed 816,610 pounds of food this year.
State Representative Jeff Roy and state Senator Roush urged residents to vote no on statewide ballot Question 5, warning it could strip $5 billion to $10 billion in state revenue.
