FRANKLIN — Finance Committee approves $1.8 million capital spending plan amid deficit concerns. The Franklin Finance Committee unanimously backed $1.8 million in tier-one capital requests and $451,845 in OPEB stabilization funding while confronting a projected $2 million to $3 million budget deficit. Committee Member Ryan Lavorgna proposed removing a $287,000 senior center fire-safety repair to conserve cash, but the motion failed.
Senior Center Director Sarah Amaral noted 250 to 300 seniors use the facility daily, and Fire Chief Chuck Allen stressed the sprinkler system is mandatory for building occupancy. More precise deficit projections are expected at the February 11 Town Council meeting.
