Cultural Council approves $18,100 Mass grant, cancels Grants Reception
Cultural Council · Meeting of March 11, 2026
Franklin Cultural Council secures $18,100 from Massachusetts Cultural Council. The council, with nine members present and chaired by John Ristaino, voted unanimously to approve prior meeting minutes and to cancel the annual Grants Reception, redirecting outreach efforts to displays at the Strawberry Stroll, Farmer's Market, and a calendar of events instead. Council Member Cory Shea applied for a Massachusetts Office of Travel and Tourism grant to cover World Cup streaming fees for a town Watch Party on June 25th and 26th, making Franklin and Marlboro the only municipalities hosting such events.
For the Wreath of Franklin 2026, scheduled December 12th, the council will establish subcommittees for marketing, business partnerships, wreaths, and events and entertainment.
