FRANKLIN — Communications subcommittee approves guidelines for councilor email and social media use. The Communications Subcommittee unanimously approved email and social media guidelines for town councilors, forwarding both to the full Town Council for its September 2 meeting. The email protocol specifies that councilors receiving constituent emails should reply all so others know a response was provided, and requires using town email for official business.

The social media guidelines permit personal accounts but require identifying as a councilor when discussing town business and distinguish personal from campaign accounts. The subcommittee also planned office hours starting August 15 at the Franklin Library, scheduled for the third Saturday of each month.
