Franklin Agricultural Commission meets with Town Administrator on Right-to-Farm initiative. Members presented their case for a Right-to-Farm bylaw; Town Administrator Jamie Hellen agreed to research the proposal and suggested crafting a customized version to minimize resistance from other town bodies. No town land is currently available for the Commission's use, though Schmidt's Farm remains a possibility in several years once utilities are installed and construction begins.
The Commission proposed establishing produce gardens at local schools instead, with member Marian Szymanski tasked with contacting school grounds staff. Hellen advised that a proposed community canning center would require private funding through a cooperative arrangement.
