Agricultural Commission · Meeting of July 27, 2026

Franklin Agricultural Commission unanimously votes to expand Zucchini Race with farming programming. Chair Marian Elizabeth Szymanski, Vice Chair Charles J. Koshivas, and Associate Jennifer Anderson Sweeney reported on the July 24 annual Zucchini Race at the Franklin Farmers Market, which drew 43 children and families who decorated and raced zucchinis; members unanimously agreed to add farming-related elements such as a zucchini bread taste contest to next year's event.

The commission identified three priorities for supporting local agriculture: directing residents to local farms, coordinating volunteer training, and assisting farmers with grants. Members unanimously approved a Pumpkin Celebration/Festival for the October 2nd Farmers Market.
